Megan Butler joined Key Murray Law as an associate after completing two summer terms and articles with the firm. Having first connected with the firm early in her legal studies, Megan is excited to build her practice close to home.
Megan earned both her Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Economics and her law degree from the University of New Brunswick. At UNB, she valued the strong sense of community, collaboration, and connection, which played a key role in her development as a student and lawyer.
Originally from O’Leary, Megan has strong ties to western Prince Edward Island. Growing up in a small community, she was inspired early on to pursue a career in law and knew she wanted to return home to practice. That goal led her to Key Murray Law, where she sought out the opportunity to work with a firm serving the communities she knows best. Megan is building a general practice with a particular interest in family law, estate planning, criminal defence, fisheries law, and personal injury.
Megan approaches her practice with a focus on empathy, reliability, and common-sense solutions. She strives to ensure that clients feel heard, supported, and confident in the guidance they receive, and is committed to providing clear, timely, and practical advice without judgment.
During law school, Megan volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and the Prison Law Society, which reinforced her interest in advocacy and confirmed her commitment to working directly with clients. She also worked with organizations connected to fisheries law, strengthening her connection to areas of practice relevant to her community.
Megan remains actively involved in her community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the West Point Development Corporation, which oversees the West Point Lighthouse Inn and Museum and community initiatives focused on tourism, heritage preservation, and local employment. She is also a board member with the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada, supporting the promotion and preservation of Celtic culture through music and dance.
Outside of the office, Megan enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.
